A HOUSE FOR ASYLUM SEEKERS
The brief was to design an ’off-grid’ settlement.
We were asked to look at other elements which would be needed to support this community:
outside space and connections, space for work, land to cultivate and a communal space,
where residents can interact with each other.

I wanted to challenge myself and rethink an asylum community. My idea is based on a collective community where people support and cooperate with each other by partly growing their own food and working side by side with the local people. The goal was to combine different cultures and and learn from each other. This way of thinking was not very common in 2013.
I believe it leads to a better relationship between immigrants and the local people.
With an holistic approach this would give immigrants a better start in their new life, socially and economically.
